Persevere for the Harvest

Keep on keepin’ on.

I hate waiting

We live in a microwave, instant gratification, "The Bachelor"-type generation. We're not used to waiting, and even the line at the DMV often tires us out. I'm part of this generation, and I'll be the first to tell you, I hate losing momentum and I don't like having to wait.

Rushing yields raw fruit

The problem with trying to rush things is: our food isn't as tasty, we encourage addictive and impulsive behaviors, and we might be forcing the fruit to fall off a tree before it's ripe -- and raw fruit just isn't as tasty.

Keep sowing

Today, remember the long-term vision. It's not a race to see who finishes first, but it's a competition with yourself to bring the fullest basket of ripe fruits and the most harvest. And for that to happen, you'll need to be okay with the days you're meant to till the soil. You're going to have to find joy in the days you're only sowing seed, uncertain of whether or not they will ever grow into fruit-bearing plants and trees. You're going to have to endure the hot summers, getting the smelly manure for fertilizer, taking extra care of the seed you've sown even when you don't know for sure if anything will grow.

I assure you, if you keep on keeping on, the harvest will come.
