To All the Places I've Loved Before: A Prologue
It’s ironic that I’ve been trying to start my travel blog since I bought the domain “http://toalltheplacesivelovedbefore.com/ “ on August 8th, but now at 23:58 way past my usual bedtime, on the day I was formally let go from a start up I joined just two months ago, I am having trouble sleeping and this seems to be the only thing that feels right and is giving me catharsis. By the time this entry is done, it will be August 20th (the clock is about to strike midnight).
I wanted to start (now it’s 0:00!) this travel blog because I’ve always been, for lack of a better word, an over sharer. With it comes the negative connotations of saying more than what needs to be said. But as a hyper enthusiast, it’s hard for me to not want to share the things in this life that make life worth living.
I get it. It’s cliché to say that we love to travel. Just like it’s cliché to say we love food. Who doesn’t love these things, right?
But I sincerely do LOVE traveling. I fall IN LOVE with the places I go. I fall in love with their stories, their histories, foods, and idiosyncrasies. The people I meet become my friends and family. You can psychoanalyze me - it’s probably because I’ve had to learn how to find belonging and create it quickly since I was a little girl, but whatever the case, I find that I meet the people that really resonate with me while I’m on a hike, or solo traveling in a new city.
Not only do I love everything about exploration, but I love being able to share some of these beautiful places with anyone willing to experience them, too.
That’s why I called this blog/site, “To All the Places I’ve Loved Before.”
There is never a reason not to beget love. Now more than ever, I see how much we need more love for one another and the planet, to cross cultural barriers and heal broken pasts.
